DR. SAUMITRA CHAUDHURI
Member, Planning Commission, Government of India.

Saumitra Chaudhuri was a Member of the Economic Advisory Council to the Prime Minister for over four years. He worked as Economic Advisor & Research Co-ordinator with ICRA Limited, a full service credit rating agency, for sixteen years (1993–2009) and was executive editor of the research publication Money & Finance. He began his working career in the Bureau of Industrial Costs & Prices (BICP), Ministry of Industry (1981–83) and later was senior economist in the Joint Plant Committee, Department of Steel (1983–85). Subsequently he was associated with Steel Authority of India Ltd (SAIL) and State Bank of India (SBI) (1986–91), besides for short durations with World Bank and UNIDO over the two decades.

He has a basic degree education in Science and studied economics at the Centre for Economic Studies & Planning, School of Social Sciences, Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi.

His association with government bodies include:

• Member of the Economic Advisory Council to the Prime Minister [Jan 2005–June 2009]

• Chairman of the Committee for Formulation of All Industry Rates of Duty Drawback 2005–06 to 2008-09 in the Ministry of Finance.

DR. JANMEJAYA K SINHA
Managing Director – BCG India

Dr. Sinha manages BCG’s practice in India. He also a member of BCG’s global governing Executive Committee. He has worked extensively with clients in the US, UK, Europe, Australia and India over a range of issues encompassing strategy, corporate governance, risk, operations and organisation. He has written extensively in the press and has conducted workshops, seminars in CII, IBA, Assocham, EIU, FICCI and RBI. He has been a member of various committees set up by RBI, CII and IBA.

Prior to joining The Boston Consulting Group he worked with the Reserve Bank of India in Calcutta and Mumbai for several years across different departments – Exchange Control, External Investments and Industrial Export and Import department. He has also worked for the World Bank in the East Asia Division.

Dr. Sinha has a Ph.D from the Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs, Princeton University, US, a BA and an MA in Economics from Clare College, Cambridge University, UK and a BA and an MA in History from St Stephen’s College, Delhi University, India.

MR.V. SRIKANTH
Managing Director, Head of Markets,
Citi, South Asia

Mr. V. Srikanth is the Head of Markets for Citi South Asia covering Fixed Income, Currencies, Commodities and Equities. He is also the Country Treasurer for Citi in India and is a Director in Citi's group company CCML (Citicorp Capital Market Ltd) - the underwriting and trading vehicle for the Indian rupee fixed income business.

He started his career in Citi in the year 1990 in the Financial Controller’s office. In 1993, he moved into Trading FX and over the next ten years held various trading roles in Fixed Income, Derivatives and FX as well as managed the liquidity and price risk in Citi India's balance-sheet.

Mr. Srikanth is the Chairman of FIMMDA - an industry organization of market participants in the Fixed Income, Money Markets and Derivatives Market. He is also the member of the Technical Committee of the Reserve Bank of India consisting of experts from banking, academics, government, stock exchanges, credit rating agencies and market representatives.

Mr. Srikanth holds a Bachelor's degree in Commerce from the Bombay University, is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India and a graduate member of the Institute of Costs and Work Accountants of India.

MR.GEORGE S. ZAVVOS

Mr Zavvos is a Legal Adviser in the Legal Service of the European Commission in Brussels, specialising in the area of financial services and company law. He has contributed in this capacity to the EC proposals for capital adequacy (CRD) and investment services (MiFID) directives and to the current reform of the European Supervision System . He has pleaded some of the landmark cases of European financial services law in the European Court of Justice.

From 1981 to 1990 he worked in the European Commission's Directorate General for Financial Institutions and Company Law (DG XV) where he was in charge of the drafting of the Second Banking Directive ,the cornerstone of the European banking system. From 1990 to 1994 he was a Member of the European Parliament (M.E.P.) and Reporter for the Directive on Capital Adequacy for Banks and Investment Firms and the Directive on Supplementary Pension Funds as well as the Post-BCCI directive . From 1991 to 1993 he was the Chairman of the Committee for the Reform of the Greek Financial System, which introduced the Greek Banking Law of 1992 . From 1994-1997 he was the first Ambassador of the European Commission to Slovakia.

In the spring of 1988, Mr. Zavvos was a Visiting Scholar at Harvard Law School. He was a Professor at the Free University of Brussels (Université Libre de Bruxelles) in the Solvay Business School (1992-1994). From 2004 until 2007, he was a Visiting Professor at the University of London, Queen Mary College.

Mr. Zavvos holds a law degree from the Athens University Faculty of Laws and a postgraduate law degree from the College of Europe (Bruges). He is Dr. Honoris Causa of Economic Sciences from the University of Economics of Bratislava. He is also the author of the book EC Banking Policy for 1992 (1989) and co-author of the book EU Policy for Banks and Capital Markets: Legal framework and Developments (2007). He has published several articles on European financial services, among others, in the Harvard International Law Journal and the Common Market Law Review. Mr. Zavvos has been awarded the Double Cross of the Slovak Republic by the President of the Slovak Republic.

MR. C. JAYARAM

Mr. C. Jayaram 52, B.A. (Economics), PGDM (IIM Kolkata), is an Executive Director of the Bank and is currently in charge of the Wealth Management Business of the Kotak Group. He also oversees the international subsidiaries and the alternate asset management business of the group. He has varied experience of over 31 years in many areas of finance and business and was earlier the Managing Director of Kotak Securities Limited. He has been with the Kotak Group for 19 years and has been instrumental in building a number of new businesses at Kotak Group. Mr. Jayaram is a Director on the Board of Financial Planning Standards Board India

MR. S.K. BHATTACHARYYA

Mr. S.K.Bhattacharyya has taken charge as Managing Director of State Bank of India on 8th October 2007 and has been designated as Managing Director and Chief Credit & Risk Officer.

Immediately prior to his appointment as Managing Director of SBI, Mr. Bhattacharyya was posted as Managing Director of State Bank of Bikaner & Jaipur.

Born in October 1950, Mr. Bhattacharyya joined State Bank of India as a Probationary Officer in the year 1972. During his tenure of 35 years in State Bank of India, Mr.Bhattacharyya has held a number of important positions, including those of Chief General Manager of Hyderabad Circle and DGM (Vigilance) at Chennai Circle. Also, Mr.Bhattacharyya was posted abroad as Management Director of SBI International (Mauritius) Ltd., Mauritius.

MR. SREERAM IYER
Chief Operating Officer, India

Sreeram Iyer is Chief Operating Officer, India, for Standard Chartered Bank. He is a key member of the Leadership Team and Management Committee of the Bank.

Sreeram is a seasoned multi-national banker with over two decades of experience in India and overseas handling a wide spectrum of banking services in various senior roles.

He was instrumental in the planning and growth of Standard Chartered’s outsourcing arm, Scope International, in Chennai. As CEO of the Bank’s shared service centre, he provided strategic leadership and drove all aspects of the company’s operations.

In his last assignment, Sreeram was based in Singapore as Global Programme Director for the integration of American Express Bank into Standard Chartered’s Consumer Bank, leading the integration process across all markets.

Prior to joining Standard Chartered, Sreeram had held various roles in the financial services sector, the manufacturing industry and management consulting. He is a frequent speaker at various industry forums in India and overseas.

Ashvin has assisted in restructuring of banks and insurance companies in Australia, Kyrgyzstan, Dubai, Sri Lanka, India and Bangladesh. He has assisted more than ten insurance companies in India with their partnership and strategy at the commencement stage.

He has been registered with the World Bank and Asian Development Bank as an expert in the Financial Services Sector and has been a member of several committees set up by the Ministry of Finance, RBI, IRDA and SEBI.

MR. PEKKA DARE

Pekka Dare, Global Head of Anti Money Laundering and Financial Crime
As well as being a qualified lawyer, Pekka has a wealth of experience in industry, including having worked as a MLRO for a large UK Life & Pensions firm and managed the Financial Crime Department of a major UK high street bank with responsibility for fraud prevention, anti money laundering and counter terrorist financing. Pekka started his working life as a solicitor in private practice undertaking criminal and civil litigation. He has experience of conducting prosecutions for tax evasion as well as providing legal advice in dealing with Organised and Serious Crime for the New Zealand Inland Revenue. He has also worked for the UK Department of Trade and Industry in the investigation of corporate fraud and misfeasance.

He has served as a committee member of the Institute of Money Laundering Prevention Officers (IMLPO), as well as being a member of the ABI Anti Money Laundering Committee. Pekka also acts as chair of the Bristol Money Laundering Forum, a network of industry practitioners.

Pekka is Course Director for the ICA Anti Money Laundering and Financial Crime Prevention programmes.

DR. T. T. RAM MOHAN

Prof Ram Mohan studied at IIT Bombay and IIM Calcutta and obtained his doctorate from Stern School of Business, New York University.

Prof Ram Mohan worked extensively in consultancy and in the financial sector before entering academics. He has been Divisional Manager with Tata Economic Consultancy Services, Head of Strategy at Standard Chartered Bank and Vice President with the American investment bank of Bear Stearns Asia Ltd (Hong Kong).

Prof Ram Mohan has been a financial journalist at various points in time. He has been New York Correspondent for The Economic Times, Economics Correspondent for India Abroad (New York), and Contributing Editor (South Asia) with the Financial Times of London's International Reports. For the past several years, he has been writing a fortnightly column for The Economic Times.

Prof Ram Mohan specialises in the financial sector. He has run training programmes for several companies, including banks. He has presented papers at conferences in India and abroad, published papers in leading journals and authored three books, including one on financial regulation.

Prof Ram Mohan was Visiting Faculty at Stern School of Business, NYU in 2001. In June 2002, was appointed Member, Technical Advisory Committee on Money and Government Securities Markets, Reserve Bank of India for a two-year period. He has also been member of the Standing Advisory Group for the RBI’s Database on the Indian Economy.

In 2007-08, Prof Ram Mohan was member of an Advisory Committee to the RBI’s Committee on Financial Sector Assessment. He has recently been appointed again to the Technical Advisory Committee on Money and Government Securities Markets, Reserve Bank of India. He is also member, Primary Markets Advisory Committee of the Securities and Exchange Board of India.

Prof Ram Mohan is on the Board of Directors of several companies in both the public and private sectors.

 Mr.Paul Gruenwald
Chief Economist, Asia

   Paul Gruenwald is the Chief Economist for Asia at ANZ. He is based in Singapore, and joined the bank in June 2008. His team covers emerging Asian economies and is responsible for macroeconomic and financial market research, as well as interest rate and currency strategy. In addition to regular reports on developments the region, the team also produces periodic research papers on topical issues.

Prior to joining ANZ, Mr. Gruenwald worked at the International Monetary Fund for over 15 years, where he was most recently the head of the Asia Regional Studies Unit. He has also been the IMF representative to Hong Kong and Korea, and deputy chief of the IMF’s China division. Mr. Gruenwald holds a Ph.D. in economics from Columbia University in New York.

MR. K. VAMAN KAMATH

Mr. K. Vaman Kamath is the non-executive Chairman of the Board of Directors of ICICI Bank Limited, India's second largest bank.

Mr. Kamath has a degree in mechanical engineering and did his management studies at the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad. He started his career in 1971 at ICICI, an Indian financial institution that founded ICICI Bank and merged with it in 2002. In 1988, he moved to the Asian Development Bank and spent several years in South-East Asia before returning to ICICI as its Managing Director & CEO in 1996. Under his leadership, the ICICI Group transformed itself into a diversified, technology-driven financial services group, that has leadership positions across banking, insurance and asset management in India, and an international presence. He retired as Managing Director & CEO in April 2009, and took up his present position.

Mr. Kamath was conferred with the Padma Bhushan, one of India’s highest civilian honours, in 2008. He was conferred the Lifetime Achievement Award at the NDTV Profit Business Leadership Awards 2008; was named “Businessman of the Year” by Forbes Asia and The Economic Times’ “Business Leader of the Year” in 2007; Business Standard’s “Banker of the Year” and CNBC-TV18's “Outstanding Business Leader of the Year” in 2006, Business India's “Businessman of the Year” in 2005 and CNBC’s “Asian Business Leader of the Year” in 2001. He has been conferred with an honorary PhD by the Banaras Hindu University. Mr. Kamath was the President of the Confederation of Indian Industry for the year 2008-09. He has been a co-chair of the World Economic Forum's Annual Meeting in Davos. He is a member of the Board of the Institute of International Finance and a Director on the board of Infosys Technologies.

S. Ramadorai, Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of Tata Consultancy Services Limited, has been associated with the company for the past thirty seven years. Joining as a trainee engineer, Ramadorai took over as CEO in 1996 and has been instrumental in building TCS to a $ 6 billion global software and services company with a talent base of over 140,000 associates, a geographical reach of 42 countries and an enviable client list which includes six of the Top Ten Fortune companies. Ramadorai has now set his sights on ensuring that TCS is among the global Top Ten software companies. MR.MUHAMMAD BIN IBRAHIM,

Muhammad Bin Ibrahim is the Assistant Governor of BNM responsible for the regulatory sector. The regulation sector covers Islamic banks and takaful, banks, insurance and development of financial institutions and financial markets. He was a Bank’s scholar and joined the Central Bank in 1984 and had served in many areas of central banking including of finance, banking supervision and regulation, strategic planning, payment systems, insurance, offshore banking and treasury and financial markets. He was the Managing Director of Danamodal Nasional Berhad, a bank recapitalization agency created during the Asian financial crisis. He is a trustee of Tun Ismail Ali Chair Council, a commissioner of the Securities Commission of Malaysia and a former council member of the Malaysian Institute of Accountants (MIA) and an Associate Fellow of the Institute of Bankers Malaysia. He is also a board member of Kumpulan Wang Persaraan (Government Pension Agency – Incorporated) and a council member of the Malaysian Bankers Institute. MS. MADHAVI LALL

Madhavi has worked with Standard Chartered Bank for over 10 years and has over 20 years of work experience. She holds a Post Graduation degree in Mathematics from St. Stephen’s College, University of Delhi and an MBA with specialization in Human Resources and Systems from XLRI Jamshedpur.

In January 2007, Madhavi took on the role of Head of Human Resources for India and in September 2008, took on the additional responsibility for South Asia HR. She is reporting to Mohan Kumar, Group Head Country HR, Asia and Neeraj Swaroop, Regional Chief Executive, India & SA.

Before joining Standard Chartered, Madhavi held various positions in ABN Amro Bank, Colgate Palmolive India and HCL Hewlett Packard Ltd.

Dr C S Venkata Ratnam is Director, International Management Institute, New Delhi. Earlier he was professor, Andhra University, Waltair, faculty member, Administrative Staff College of India, Hyderabad and Professor, International Management Institute, New Delhi for over two decades.

Dr Ratnam has specialized in human resource management and industrial relations and has held numerous consulting assignments for International Labour Organization, Asian Productivity Organization and International Confederation of Trade Unions in various countries in Asia and Europe. He is also a visiting professor at International Institute of Management, University of Graz, Austria and visiting fellow at McGill University, Montreal and Manchester Business School, Manchester.

Dr Ratnam authored several books, including employers dilemma, challenge of change: dynamics of labour management relations in India, managing people, unusual collective agreements and negotiated change and a text book on Industrial Relations published by Oxford University Press. He has specialized in international labour standards and a certified trainer of ILO Turin Centre on freedom of association and collective bargaining and conducted programmes in Turin and several Asian countries.

Dr Ratnam is a member of the HR or IR committees of FICCI, AIEO, SCOPE, CII PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry and secretary Indian Industrial Relations Association and Indian Society of Labour Economics. He was member of the Globalization sub-committee appointed by the 2nd National Commission on Labour. He was elected as executive committee of International Industrial Relations Association, Geneva since 2003.

Dr Ratnam guided 15 persons for Ph.D. He is founder-editor of Global Business Review and a member of editorial board of several professional journals, including Austrialian Journal of Industrial Relations and Indian Journal of Industrial Relations.

In the area of WTO and international trade, Dr Ratnam has specialized in labour and social issues and worked for a number of international organizations.

Mark T. Robinson is CEO Citi South Asia - India, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, having been appointed to this role effective February 2009. Mark has been with Citi for over 24 years and has held various leadership positions across Citi franchises globally before assuming office in India. Mark is a member of the Managing Committee of the Indian Banks’ Association, Member of the Foreign Banks’ Committee of the Indian Banks’ Association, Co-Chairman of the Habitat for Humanity India and Director with the Advisory Board of the Centre for Analytical Finance of the Indian School of Business, Hyderabad.

In his previous role, Mark was the Citi Country Officer in Russia and Division Head for the CIS, overseeing the Bank’s operations in Kazakhstan and the Ukraine. The Citi franchise in Russia/CIS includes over 800,000 customers, 66 branches and a presence in 11 cities. Mark assumed this role in September 2004.

From 2002-2004 Mark was the Citi Country Officer in Turkey and also oversaw the Bank’s operations in Israel and business in eight non-presence countries in Central Asia.

Mark was based in Budapest from 1997 to 2002 where his initial assignment was as Corporate Bank Head and then as Citi Country Officer responsible for both Institutional and Consumer banking.

From 1988 to 1995 Mark had various roles at Citibank New York in Human Resources, and the Corporate Finance, Restructuring and Derivatives businesses. Mark was based in Hong Kong in 1995 and 1996 where he was a senior transactor in the regional Corporate Finance Unit.

Mark joined Citibank in 1984 and his first assignment was in Pakistan from 1985 to 1987 where he was a Relationship Manager.

Mark is a graduate of the University of Chicago where he received his Bachelor of Arts and his Masters of Business Administration.

The Bank’s business processes were re-engineered in the year 2000, starting with centralised banking operations and multi-channel banking. The Bank was among the first to promote the use of open system architecture for its Call Centre. Mr Bhaskaran is a rank holding post graduate in commerce from Madras University. He holds a PG diploma in financial Management, and PG Diploma in Treasury and Forex management. David Winfield is the Executive Director of The International Centre for Leadership in Finance (ICLIF) based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. ICLIF was set up as a non-profit organisation by Bank Negara Malaysia (Central Bank of Malaysia) in 2003, to build a stellar pool of top management talent for the financial sector and corporations in Malaysia and the region. ICLIF is a strategic initiative to ensure that Malaysia and the region become important global players amidst increasing globalisation, competitiveness and liberalisation in the international financial arena.

Until August 2006, Mr. Winfield was the Executive Director of the Toronto International Leadership Centre for Financial Sector Supervision, a position he held from February 2000. Created in 1997 by the Canadian Government, the World Bank and the Schulich School of Business at York University, and supported by the IMF, the Toronto Centre provides executive and leadership development to financial sector supervisory executives from around the world.

Mr. Winfield had 30 years of experience in Europe, Asia, North American and Latin America in senior trade and economic positions in the Canadian Foreign Service. From 1989 to 1995 he was Canada’s Ambassador to Mexico during and after the negotiation of the NAFTA. From 1989 to 1991 he served concurrently as Ambassador to Guatemala. In 1995 the President of Mexico awarded Mr. Winfield the Golden Aztec, the highest honour that can be granted to a non-Mexican. In 2002 he was awarded the Queen’s Golden Jubilee Medal for outstanding service to Canada and Canadians.

From 1995-99 Mr. Winfield was a member of the senior management team at Nortel Networks, responsible for the development and management of global government relations.

Mr. Winfield has been the Chairman of the Canadian Council of the Americas (1998-2004). He was on the Board of Directors of Bancomer S.A., Mexico’s largest bank, from 1996-2002. He was also a member of the Board of Trustees of the Royal Ontario Museum from 1996-2000. He continues to sit on corporate and not-for profit boards of directors in Canada and the United States.

Shri S. A. Bhat, holds B.Sc.(Hons), joined Bank of India as a Probationary Officer in 1972 and was with them till 1st February 2006.

In Bank of India, he started as an officer and Branch Manager of rural and semi-urban branches. He was Chief Dealer at Mumbai Overseas Branch, of Bank of India. He had a two-year stint at Bank of India’s London Branch. He was with that Bank’s New York Office for four years as Vice President and Comptroller. He has headed the Bank of India’s Chennai Zone as Zonal Manager. As General Manager International Banking, he was in charge of the entire International operations of Bank of India. Later as General Manager, Risk Management, he was responsible for the implementation of Risk Management techniques and Basel II norms.

While at Bank of India, he was also nominee director for STCI, IL & FS and Indo Zambia Bank.

AT UCO BANK AS EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

Shri Bhat was appointed by the Government of India as Executive Director of UCO Bank on 2nd February 2006 and held that position till his present assignment as Chairman & Managing Director of Indian Overseas Bank.

Shri Bhat has made many contributions to the Banking Industry, as a member of several committees. He was on the Technical Advisory Committee, Steering Group for Basel II, Committee on Credit Advisory System for Exporters, and Working Group for revision of ALM, all of which were constituted by Reserve Bank of India. He was also on the Indian Banks’ Association’s Committee for drawing Road Map for implementation of Basel II.

With an overall exposure in Banking, his strengths lie in International Banking, Credit, Rural Finance and Risk Management.

MR. ANAND SINHA,
Executive Director,
Reserve Bank of India

Mr. Anand Sinha is Executive Director, Reserve Bank of India with the Department of Banking Operations and Development and the Department of Banking Supervision under his charge. He oversees the formulation of regulatory policies for commercial banks and their supervision.

Mr. Sinha has been closely associated with the banking sector reforms in India. He is Reserve Bank of India’s alternate representative in the Basel Committee on Banking Supervision (BCBS), Bank for International Settlements (BIS), Basel, Switzerland. He is also representing RBI on two sub-committees of the BCBS viz. Policy Development Group (PDG) and High Level Group on Macro Prudential Issues. He represented RBI on the Committee on Global Financial Systems (CGFS), BIS since December 2005 till recently as a member of the CGFS Working Group on Capital Flows to Emerging Market Economies. He represented India on the G20 Working Group on Enhancing Sound Regulation & Strengthening Transparency.

Mr. Sinha joined the RBI in 1976 after his Masters in Physics.

DR. ASHOK JHUNJHUNWALA,
Director, IIT, Chennai

Dr. Ashok Jhunjhunwala received his B.Tech degree from IIT, Kanpur, and his MS and Ph.D degrees from the University of Maine. From 1979 to 1981, he was with Washington State University as Assistant Professor. Since 1981, he has been teaching at IIT, Madras, where he leads the Telecommunications and Computer Networks group (TeNeT). This group works with industry in the development of technologies relevant to India. It has incubated several technology companies which work in partnership with TeNeT group to develop Telecom and Banking products for Indian Urban and Rural Markets. He chairs Rural Technology and Business Incubator (RTBI) at IIT Madras and Mobile Payment Forum of India (MPFI).He Published 53 original research articles in peer- reviewed journals and authored several books and monographs. Till date he guided more than 60 MS & Ph.D students.

Dr. Ashok Jhunjhunwala has been awarded Padma Shri in the year 2002. He has been awarded Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar Award in 1998, Dr.Vikram Sarabhai Research Award for the year 1997, Millennium Medal at Indian Science Congress in the year 2000 and H. K. Firodia for "Excellence in Science & Technology" for the year 2002, Shri Om Prakash Bhasin Foundation Award for Science & Technology for the year 2004, Awarded Jawaharlal Nehru Birth Centenary Lecture Award by INSA for the year 2006, IBM Innovation and Leadership Forum Award by IBM for the year 2006, Awarded Honorary Doctorate by the Institute of Blekinge Institute of Technology Sweden and Excellence in Science and Technology in 2008.Recently Dr Jhunjhunwala awarded for 2009 Bernard Lown ’42 Humanitarian award from University of Maine, USA for serving India. He also awarded for “Excellence in Science and Technology award” for 2008- 2009 by Indian science Congress . He is a Fellow of World Wireless Research forum, IEEE and Indian academies including INAE, IAS, INSA and NAS.

Dr. Jhunjhunwala is a Director in the Board of State Bank of India, TTML, BEL, Polaris, 3i Infotech, Sasken, Tejas, IDRBT, Tata Communications and Exicom. He is also a member of Prime Minister's Scientific Advisory Committee.

MR. N.S. KANNAN,
Executive Director & Chief Financial Officer,
ICICI Bank

Mr. N.S. Kannan is the Executive Director and Chief Financial Officer of ICICI Bank. In addition to Finance, Taxation and Communications, his responsibilities include Compliance, Internal Audit, Corporate Legal and Global Treasury operations.

Prior to the current assignment, Mr. Kannan was the Executive Director of ICICI Prudential Life Insurance Company. He looked after the Corporate Centre including the Finance and accounts functions, Investor/analyst relations, Investment Management, Corporate Strategy, Corporate Communications, Human Resources and Business Intelligence. Prior to shifting to ICICI Prudential, Mr. Kannan was the Chief Financial Officer and Treasurer of ICICI Bank.

Mr. Kannan has been with the ICICI group for over 18 years. He joined the ICICI group in 1991 as a project officer. During his tenure at ICICI group, he has handled project finance operations, infrastructure financing, structured finance and treasury operations.

Mr. Kannan is a postgraduate in management from the Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore with a gold medal for best all-round performance. He is also a Chartered Financial Analyst from the Institute of Chartered Financial Analysts of India and an Honours graduate in Mechanical Engineering.

DR.K.C.CHAKRABARTY,
Deputy Governor,
Reserve Bank of India.

Dr. K.C.Chakrabarty, a seasoned banker with an accomplished banking career spanning over three decades donned the role of a Central Banker on June 15, 2009 after he assumed charge of the office of Deputy Governor in Reserve Bank of India (RBI). Before taking over the new role as the Deputy Governor, Dr. Chakrabarty graced the seat of Chairman & Managing Director (CMD) of Punjab National Bank for over two years and before that the CMD of Indian Bank for two years. Dr. Chakrabarty was also the Chairman of the Indian Banks’ Association (IBA) for a brief period before assuming charge of the office of Deputy Governor at RBI.

Born on June 27, 1952 at Daringbadi in District Kandhmala, Orissa, Dr. Chakrabarty has outstanding academic credentials. He is a Second Rank Holder in his Bachelor’s Degree in Science, First Rank Holder in M.Sc Statistics and has a Doctorate in Statistics from Benaras Hindu University. He started his career in teaching and research at the Benaras Hindu University and went on to have a long and distinguished career of 26 years at the Bank of Baroda in various capacities. Dr. Chakrabarty had exposure in banking operations and administration, including planning, management information system and economic research, development banking, Lead Bank Scheme, priority sector lending, resource management and investment banking, launching of new products and services, integrated treasury operations, risk management and corporate accounts, international banking and global syndication.

Dr. Chakrabarty had moved progressively through positions and varied challenging responsibilities over these years in various banks like, Bank of Baroda, Indian Bank and Punjab National Bank. He was the Chief Executive looking after United Kingdom Operations of the Bank of Baroda between 2001 and 2004 before being elevated as Executive Director of Punjab National Bank in August 2004. Subsequently, Dr. Chakrabarty assumed the Office of Chairman & Managing Director (CMD) of Indian Bank in June 2005 and Punjab National Bank in June 2007 and led from the front to bring a turnaround in both the banks.

Dr. Chakrabarty’s current assignments include guiding and overseeing the areas pertaining to Rural and Urban cooperative banks, Information Technology, Payment and Settlement Systems, Customer services, Human resource and Personnel management at the Reserve Bank of India. He represents India in the Committee of Payment and Settlement Systems (CPSS) constituted by Bank for International Settlements (BIS) as a Member. Dr. Chakrabarty is also the RBI Nominee on the Board of Directors of NABARD and the Chairman of the Institute for Development and Research in Banking Technology (IDRBT).

Earlier, Dr. Chakrabarty had been one of the leading guiding forces as Chairman / President / Director / Member in various national institutes / organizations like Indian Banks’ Association, National Housing Bank, Oriental Insurance Co. Ltd., Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), Central Depository Services Ltd. (CDSL), Exim Bank, NIBM, Agricultural Finance Corporation Ltd., Indian Institute of Banking & Finance, General Insurance Corporation of India, etc. He was also,

• Chairman of Committee of RBI Working Group on timely rehabilitation and flow of credit for rehabilitation;

• Chairman of IBA’s Sub-Committee on Agro-business and Financial Inclusion;

• Chairman of CII’s National Committee on Banking;

• Chairman of the Working Group on Rehabilitation of Sick SMEs and

• Member of the RBI’s High Level Committee to review the Lead Bank Scheme and improve its effectiveness.

DR.K. RAMAKRISHNAN,

Mr. K. Ramakrishnan, since 4th August 2008, Chief Executive, Indian Banks’ Association, Mumbai. He holds B.Com.(Spl.) and is MBA (Gold Medalist - First Class First).

He has a two year full-time post-graduate programme in banking from NIBM, Pune as also Post-graduate Diploma in Training and Development from University of Manchester, U.K. to his credit.

He has been conferred “Doctorate of Letters” by Acharya Nagarjuna University for his contribution in the field of Banking.

He has over 38 years of experience in the banking industry having joined as a Probationary Officer in the year 1970 in Bank of India where he rose to the level of General Manager holding various important domains including Information Technology. He was elevated to the post of Executive Director, Bank of Baroda and during his brief stint, he has held important assignments including the Bank’s international operations in Kenya. Within a span of 11 months from taking over as Executive Director, Bank of Baroda, he was elevated to the office of Chairman & Managing Director, Andhra Bank and had taken charge of Andhra Bank on 09.06.2005.

N. Ganapathy Subramaniam (NGS as he is called) is currently the President of TCS Financial Solutions, a Division of Tata Consultancy Services Limited (www.tcs.com). He has been part of TCS and the Indian IT Industry for the past 27 years and has had opportunities to perform a variety of roles in delivering solutions to customers globally, especially in the Banking and Financial Services sector.

As a part of his current role, he is responsible for steering the Financial Products business of TCS globally.
