Address by Chief Guest – Dr.Saumitra Chaudhuri, Member, Planning Commission, Government of India on “Indian Economy – An Overview”. Dr.Chaudhuri touched upon various aspects of Indian Economy and the development role of RBI and Government of India. Other issues covered were trust and solvency; import and export collapse; economy downturn – collapse of Lehman Bros.; credit default swap; reduction in CRR; open market operations; cut in excise duty; managing risk; preparing for continued risk, 75% oil reserve in OPEC countries; financial innovations; India’s GDP growth; public private partnership in infrastructure investment, dot com boon, etc.
