ANTI-MONEY LAUNDERING (AML) & KNOW YOUR CUSTOMER (KYC)

Money-laundering has acquired a global character that not only threatens security, but also compromises the stability, transparency, and efficiency of financial systems. Money-laundering techniques are increasing in sophistication and complexity and calls for a vigorous multi-disciplinary approach, and priority attention, at the banks' and national levels.

Across the world, banks and financial institutions are required to introduce and implement systems to prevent anti-social elements from using the banking channels for money laundering.

Adoption of appropriate know-your-customer procedures within individual banks, development of customer acceptance policies and transaction monitoring is an essential part of risk management in banks to safeguard confidence and the integrity of banking systems

The seminar aims to provide a deeper knowledge and understanding on the various aspects of AML/KYC to sensitize the bankers about the need to adopt international best practices in AML efforts.
