On 26th June 2008, IIBF had organized a senior bankers' meet and MoU signing ceremony with Indian Institute of Bank Management-Guwahati and St.Peters College-Shillong for delivery of Institutes' courses in North East Region, at Guwahati.
Shri R.Bhaskaran, CEO, IIBF gave a presentation on the Institute's initiatives and various programmes coming up in the near future for the banking and finance community. Ms. Sewali Choudhury, Regional Director, Reserve Bank of India, was the guest of honour for the captioned programme.
Ms.Sewali Choudhury appreciated the efforts put by the Institute in promoting banking education in the North East by collaborating with prominent institutes and colleges in the North East, such as, IIBM-Guwahati and St.Peters' College - Shillong.
The MoU was signed with IIBM-Guwahati and St.Peters' college - Shillong in the presence of Ms.Sewali Choudhury, Regional Director, RBI.
As per the MoU, IIBM and IIBF will collaborate in offering the various courses of IIBF in North East. These Institutions will also offer conferences and seminars in the Region.
Similarly, the MoU with St Peters College Shillong will help the IIBF offer it's Diploma in Banking and Finance to the students of the college to make them more employable.
The programme was a huge success with 88 senior level bankers and press and media attending the programme. There was a healthy discussion on various issues of banking like financial inclusion, Microfinance, Risk Management, etc., wherein the Chief Guest suggested that IIBF may come up with more new courses and initiatives for the betterment of banking services and human resource development in banking industry.
