MoU between Indian Institute of Banking &
Finance & State Bank of India was signed on 11th July 2007 at State Bank of
India, Corporate Office, Mumbai for R.K.Talwar Memorial Lecture Series.
The First R K Talwar Memorial Lecture will be
organized by the Institute on 31st July 2007 at the SBI auditorium, Nariman
Point, Mumbai 400 021. State Bank of India has instituted this annual Memorial
Lecture in memory of the late R.K.Talwar.
Late Talwar was the Chairman of the State Bank
of India during 1969 - 76. and had played yeomen’s role in the development and
shaping of the Bank . The admirers of the late R K Talwar from amongst the
pensioners, existing staff of the Bank and some outsiders collected funds to
create an endowment to perpetuate his memory and recall his role/ contribution
in the growth and development of the Bank. SBI on its part has contributed a
matching amount to the corpus created for this purpose.
Late Talwar was also the President (1970
&1975), the Vice President (1969 - '76) and a Governing Council members
(1968 - '76) of the Indian Institute of Banking & Finance (formerly The
Indian Institute of Bankers).
MoU was signed by Shri V.S.S.Kapdi, Chief
General Manger (HR), State Bank of India, Mumbai and Shri R.Bhaskaran, Chief
Executive Officer, Indian Institute of Banking & Finance, Mumbai.
