The IIBF started the training department in 2012. It plays a crucial role in the development and dissemination of knowledge and skills within the banking and finance sectors. Here are the key aspects of the Training Department's role:

Customization of Programs:

The department offers customized programs tailored to the specific needs of banks and financial institutions. These programs are designed to address the unique requirements and challenges faced by different organizations in the industry.

To strengthen Training Department, IIBF created four separate Professional Development Centre in West Zone, East Zone, North Zone & South Zone, who will take care their respective zone by contacting/visiting and ascertaining their customised needs to be converted in offline/online training program.

The graphically representing four zones as below:

West Zone is having coverage area of states of Maharashtra, Goa, Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh.

Role of Professional Development Centres (PDCs) at IIBF

Professional Development Centres (PDCs) at IIBF serve as zonal hubs for training and development activities. Here are their key roles:

Zonal Training Hubs:

PDCs are strategically located in different zones to cater to the training needs of banks and financial institutions in their respective areas.

Customized Training Programs:

PDCs conduct customized training programs based on the specific requirements of local banks and financial institutions. These programs cover various topics such as credit appraisal, foreign exchange operations, risk-based internal audits etc.

Open Training Programs:

PDCs conduct open programs covering different subject matters.

To promote different courses including JAIIB/CAIIB/DBF/Capacity building program in their Zone.

Organizing seminars, workshops, and conferences on contemporary banking and finance topics.

About the center

The Professional Development Centre (PDC), Northeast Zone, Guwahati of the Indian Institute of Banking & Finance (IIBF) has been established to cater to the growing training and capacity building needs of bankers and finance professionals across all the regions of India.

The Centre was inaugurated on 6th June 2025 at Guwahati by Shri M. V. Rao, Ex Managing Director & CEO, Central Bank of India, in the presence of Shri Biswa Ketan Das, Chief Executive Officer, IIBF.

The PDC Guwahati aims to strengthen professional competence, enhance operational efficiency, and support career development of banking professionals through structured, practical, and industry relevant training programmes.
